87. Sem 1, 2009 (2)

When I was typing the first post of Sem 1, 2009..... the reflections of past events kept flowing in. Now.... my mind is dry. Maybe the holiday-ing mood has taken over me. It's been a week and a half. Another a week and a half to go before being "promoted" to Year 3 student. It seems like only yesterday I stepped foot into Monash U. Haha.... Time will never go backwards.

During the semester, I had learned about the chemistry occurring beneath biological beings. Not that X meets Y and become XX or XY. :p It's more than that. Biochemistry, that is.... or was. This unit really made my nerves went twisted and coiled in the shapes of alpha helix, beta sheets or random coils. :s I hope I WON'T have to retake it. Never.... please!

After the sparks of chemistry, processing needs to be done. With that, I learned about bioprocessing. What goes in must come out. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Bla bla bla.... I can actually relate some of the things learned here to everyday life. Money flows in; money flows out. True! Food go in; faeces go out. True! XD Hehehe...

And another unit which I could not figure out why we had to learn all the craps 'til the end of it - lab and workplace management. It is important for those, especially scientists, to ensure the safety of themselves, others and the environment in carrying out their work for better tomorrows. As technology becomes more advanced, everything becomes as easy as "kacang putih". But, there are things we should not neglect or take for granted. I can be a mad scientist.... no problemo... but, a responsible mad scientist. LOL.

The last unit was ecology which was much elaborated in previous post.

So, that's that. Results are yet to be released. Hoping there will be no retake of any units.

86. Sem 1, 2009 (1)

The semester started with a heartbreak but, ended with a smile on the face.... my face =).
Don't navigate away from this page, please.... I'm not gonna talk about "heartbreak" here. NO emo posts. =) So.....
It was a typical semester loaded with tonnes of assignments, reports, presentations, quizzes and finally exams. One thing "special" about this semester was I had a field trip (which I was too lazy to blog about although I wanted to). Pictures speak a thousand words, right? :p hehe.... The field trip was nice but the reports-to-be-done after that were not. Yet.... no escape. I snapped quite a number of photos but, just gonna upload these few. You can't expect me to upload 186 photos in one entry, right? Besides, most of them are plants, plants and yea... plants. If you're a nature lover, feel free to ask me for the photos =)

Fiction: My coursemates and I getting ready to jump into the river at night. XD
Fact: Waiting for the sampan to see fireflies. Obviously, it's in Kuala Selangor =D

It was a bit pricey (RM40 per sampan; maximum 4 persons per sampan) just to get onto the sampan and only see the fireflies flying and hanging around the trees in the middle of the river at night making the trees looked like christmas trees with thousands of neon lights blinking in absolute darkness. Ah... yea, they also give you a bottle of mineral water each. I tried to capture the "fireflies in action" but, the results were disappointing. The photos turned out to be in total pitch black. :(

Mangrove forest aka Hutan Paya Bakau

On the next day, we went into the mangrove forest to do the samplings. And it rained the night before, so...... yes..... it was really really muddy. Walking in mud was difficult. You really need good skills and good balance while walking in the mangrove forest. Or else, you would have your feet stuck in the mud.... or worse, slip and fall down and get yourself covered with mud. But, fear not... the mud is good for your skin....can do spa. Hahaha....

This was in secondary forest.

In secondary forest, too.

My friend and I with the lecturer in secondary forest.
Look at the mud on my pants. It was MUCH muddier before I took this picture.

Monkeys were found everywhere in Taman Alam. Really everywhere!!

Gigantic huh?? This was taken in primary forest in Gombak.

We did quadrat sampling in three different forests.

Field trip was really fun. The reports were not. Although my pants and shoes were covered with mud, accidentally hit my forehead on a tree branch, mosquitoes kept sucking my blood, me getting sweaty and dirty, and all the things that any girly girls would hate to go through in this field trip, I love it! =D I would wanna take another environmental unit again IF no reports are required after that. Haha.....
So, that's my post about Ecology field trip.

.....to be continued.....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay.... my holidays have just begun .... for approximately three weeks. Gotta make use of these three weeks to charge my battery for the next three-month battle. I have a feeling that it's gonna be tougher next semester. And yea.... after much consideration, I have finally decided to take up the challenge. I hope I won't become a walking zombie next semester. Need to stock up on lotsa pati ayam for next semester. Hahaha.... XD

Happy holidays to all Monash-ian folks~!! ^^

85. The (sleepless) Night Before Exam

One more paper to go.....

Was forcing myself to sleep last night.
Reasons? Unknown.
Very much confirmed that no caffeine inside my body.

Tried every position & style of sleeping....
To the left...
To the right...
Face upwards...
Downwards...
Sideways...
Starfish style...
Foetal style...
Sea cucumber style...
Burger style...
Sushi style...

*argggahhh*

Eyes were shut.
Mind was awake.
Totally opposite of goldfish!
Theirs.... eyes were wide open.
Mind was on sleeping mode.

After having tried all styles & positions of sleeping....
The alarm went *riiinnnnngggg*
"Great"
With panda eyes & zombie walking style...
Went to uni for my third (second last) paper.
Wasn't in the mood for any sort of communications.
Sat for the paper in the "chiller" and went back.

Think.... now the effect of chicken essence is going down down down....
Pretty much sleepy & tired...
Wanna sleep...
But, mind's been bothering about something yet undone.

Should I take up the challenge?
Or....
Should I take the safer route?

Okay... I think I should recharge my body now.
Feels like my mind is going merry-go-round. @___@&
....while my body feels like being on a sampan.

84. Exams fever~!

Exams are near
Exams are here
Hold back your tears
Conquer your fears
Look for your peers
Go through all the past-years
If you think you're getting any crazier
Have no fear
That's normal for everyone here.

Haha... Yo~! Will be MIA for quite some time due to exams fever. To those who are on the same battle boat with me, let us work hard on it. All the best and best of luck. NO failing any units~! Hahaha.... To those who are on the vacation boat, enjoy your lovely cruise.

'til then... TATA (box) aka bubye (box), (quoted from PandahKet, 2009). Adious~

83. ...and I was tagged...

Thank you, zSuzZz.... for giving me something (I have) to blog about. Very the malas lazy lately. So, here goes....

DIRECTION: Once you've been tagged, you have to write a post with sixteen random things, habits or goals about you. At last, choose five people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them.

  1. I am a quite a random person. Sometimes, out of the blue, in the middle of a conversation or in the middle of an activity, something random would pop out from my mouth, which is totally irrelevant to the current situation I am in. Ask any of my friends and they will definitely say yes.
  2. I love strawberries....which explains why I frequent Cameron Highlands during any holidays and I never fail to get them before I left. Well.... I know... strawberries are available in any supermarkets you visit. But, the figures on the price tags smack me right onto the face and make me ignoring the poor lovely strawberries begging for me to take them home. Blame it all on my current employment status. Despite of my undying love towards strawberries, I don't like strawberry jam.
  3. I love chocolate. Put strawberries + chocolate together = perfect combination! =D Just by thinking of them both together puts a smile on my face. Hahaha....
  4. I prefer to be at the driver seat rather than the passenger seats. Why? I love driving. Especially when the whole road is mine. Hahaha....
  5. I'm quite indecisive when come to certain things. E.g.: "Which colour should I get?" or "Which should I have for breakfast/lunch/dinner?" or "Should I buy this or that?" or "Should I go or should I not?" So vain, huh? But, when the decision is made, nothing and nobody can change my mind. Contradictory....I would say.
  6. It's hard to trust anyone or someone. I once trusted someone, A, that I told A the things B told me. B entrusted me with the matter. I trusted A so, I told A....thinking that A would not tell anyone about it. Somehow, B found out that I told A and apparently A told someone else and round and round..... went back to B. So, B was mad at me for breaking the trust and promise. I apologized to B and A apologized to me. But, things were not the same again. A and B are still friends and so am I. That's what others see. Deep within, B never share anything with me since then and conversation was even lesser. A, is still the A I know. Until today, I still can feel the guilt within me. Would things be the same if I keep my promise? Lessons learnt.... but a pricey one.
  7. I don't like gossips and rumours. I despise those who gossip and spreading rumours. I just can't stand these kinda people. So, I don't like to watch Gossip Girls. Makes me wanna *puke* seeing the people spreading gossips and creating rumours to sabotage others' reputation or something else to achieve their own goals.
  8. I am a procrastinator. I do things at the very last minute usually. I know this. I understand this. I know the consequences. Yet, I am still a procrastinator. Really need to make this bad habit dead and gone.
  9. I wish it would snow here in Malaysia. The weather is killing me. Thanks to global warming... Thanks to destructive human beings.... that now even though it rained just now, it didn't make much difference. Argh~!
  10. I wanna go for a vacation after graduation. Destination not decided yet. But, definitely out of Malaysia. I don't mind travelling alone. I don't mind anyone tagging along. Before all the happy hoo-hah-hee, I need to put in all my very best in studies and also get $$$ first for the vacation. Ain't easy, I know... After the happy hoo-hah-hee, gotta enter the working world. Should I continue to further my studies...will be an issue to be worried about later on.
  11. I don't really feel comfortable talking/writing/typing/expressing myself. So, these sixteen random facts about me were not done easily. Took me hours to think think think hard hard hard about what's there to write about myself. Seems like I don't know myself very well, huh? Probably....
  12. I've been thinking whether to shut this blog down and then, continue writing in traditional way: diary. Should I?
  13. I daydream. A lot. Especially when my mind is idle.
  14. I can't recognise who and who in public places....especially in big crowds. So, don't be surprised or annoyed if I don't say "hie" and walk straight right in front of you if you happen to bump into me one day.
  15. I've always have a liking for meaningful and inspirational phrases. But, I always forget most of them. :p
  16. Okay.... last one. I'm a boring person.
Yay~!!! -The End-

I tagged.....
Chesh
Goh
Khian
Avinesh
Farid

Why?
'coz these are the few friends who blog. Sigh... and others were tagged by zSuzZz.
